Character: 9S Canon: Nier: Automata, Ending E (via Ending D) Age: ~3 years old Bio Blurb:WIKI... heavy spoilers within!
9S (YoRHa Unit No. 9, Type S) is a Scanner-type android and member of YoRHa, an elite fighting force for humanity against the Aliens and Machines in the 14th Machine War in the year 11945. He is an exceptionally advanced model that specializes in hacking and intelligence-gathering. He is programmed to feel a deep love for humanity. He is kind, helpful, curious, and unusually emotional for a YoRHa android -- which means he isn't afraid to complain, either. His drive to gather intelligence sometimes drives him to pursue leads at great risk. He is proud of his capabilities as an advanced model, which can also be his downfall. He invests all of himself into his relationships and his role; as such, he can be extremely hostile toward the enemies that threaten them.
A NOTE ON HIS ABILITIES since he a robot made to be ridiculous: 9S possesses sufficient strength to handle his own weight (286 lbs) with ease. He can launch into an extreme sprint on a dime (I'm guesstimating 25 mph, it's something stupid fast like that) and sustain it indefinitely, as well as jump long distances. His body can endure long falls: say 5 stories safely, 10 with some damage, and 20 with extreme damage. His performance can be enhanced by inserting plug-in chips [somewhere mysterious on his body]. He is not made for combat, but has taught himself how to fight with a variety of weapons including swords, spears, and fists. He can use magnetic levitation to control his weapons and fling them around in combat as needed. More importantly, he excels at hacking: enemy Machines, databases, locks, other androids, even himself, he can hack nearly anything electronic. It's a heavily overpowered skill in his canon where everything is electronic. With his hacking, he can do anything as destructive as blow a target up, or as helpful as get rid of a virus. If his target is unaware, he can even seize control of it and manipulate it physically -- but he has shown no inclination toward doing so for anyone but enemy Machines.
He will inevitably begin to break down without proper maintenance. He can perform light maintenance on himself and nanomachines will heal minor injuries over time, but heavier damage and long-term repairs will need to be addressed in other ways.
Essence: The Scholar | The Shadow Essence Gains: I would like for 9S's shadow to evolve over the course of the game! It could start out as acting independently of him (while still attached to him), then cooperating with him to do things like stretching out and manipulating things (if that's not too OP), forming a sword for him to use, becoming armor, and so on until it one day becomes unable to detach from him. The shadow would be susceptible to surrounding illumination (weak to the noon sun, strong when 9S is backlit, etc.) and capable of being injured. Maybe over time the shadow would still be able to function in limited form in poor lighting conditions. Eventually, I'd also like for the shadow to become sentient, go rogue, and for 9S to kill it but THAT'S A PLOT FOR THE FUTURE.
Questions: If 9S needed to replace any parts (bad circuitry, a fuel filter, etc.) would he able to find those parts anywhere in the setting? Or get magically healed idk?!?! Also I'd like to keep as much of 9S's canon abilities as possible, but I understand if anything needs to be nerfed!
